Aims of re-construction of DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY monastic institution in India. 1-MEANING OF WORD GONPA (Monastery):- Gonpa is a learning center of Buddhist philosophy and meditation institution. In the past Gonpa should have to build in remote area or minimum one mile away from village, town or city. Every Gonpa`s aim is to prevail peace in human society and all sentient being at large. 2- REASON WHY WE BUILDING GONPA: - Hundreds of sage and Maha-Rishis had constructed countless monastery or Gonpa in the past history. Their aim of doing such was not only to protect culture and heritage of specific human civilization, but doing self practice of non-violence and peace in the peaceful monastic institution or GONPA and to impart or teach knowledge of non-violence and peace to others. Fact is that Gonpa is center of prevailing happiness and mental peace to all sentient being. By looking back to the past history of great sages and Maha-Rishi`s marvelous contribution of peace and non-violence, we also wish to do the same in present century by spending all sort of own-energy. Most important source of peace and happiness in human society is by learning sound Buddhist culture and philosophy. Therefore, first and foremost there must have good hostel (Gonpa) facilities for learning Buddhist culture and its philosophy. So, we are also very much needs of hostel, assembly hall, library and kitchen facilities for monk students. 3- REASON WHY WE CONSTRUCTING OUR MONASTRY IN INDIA: - It is universally accepted that we Tibetan do not have freedom of learning and practicing our own culture and tradition in our own country, Tibet. DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY was built in Tibet in 11AD. Unfortunately, during the culture revolution DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY was completely destroyed by the peoples` Republic of China. Later in 1980s little Gonpa was reconstructed by some disciple of Nyagton Rinpoche. But no more monks allowed recruiting. Hence, all sects of Tibetan Buddhist Gonpa or monastic institution had been built in India in the past half century; as India is a land of freedom and also origin land of Buddhist culture. And also historically India and Tibet had been good neighboring before 1959. Even if Tibet would free in the near future, it would be easier to communicate by constructing Gonpa in India, Ofcourse, Sikkim a sate of India, where planning to re-building DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY of Nyagton lineage has many folds of reason. Firstly Sikkim was consecrated by Guru Rinpoche and all Buddhist consider Sikkim as very holy land. Secondly Nyag Kumar Raja received many teachings and adept from great teacher Guru Rinpoche. Thirdly Sikkim is nearest state of India to Tibet and it would be easy to contract with monastery from Tibet after regaining freedom. Many Dharma tourist and eco-tourist flourish in Ravangla, South Sikkim and also most of the local people are Buddhist by birth are optimistic points for sustaining and prevailing peace and happiness from a Buddhist monastic Institution in the future. 4-BENEFITS OF BUDDHIST CULTURE :- To learn a depth of Buddhist culture, you have to examine the teaching of Lord Buddha, by learning four Nobel truths with to and fro. As per Buddhist point of view we should find out core source of sorrow-ness. And three main source of sorrow-ness are lust, hatred and defilement or say three poisons. To give-up three poisons by doing hard mental training. Try to create genuine love and compasion to all sentient being. With this there should be true feeling of mother-ness respect and true compassion to all sentient being. Every single sentient being was mother of one another. As stated in Shanti Deva`s text called Moral guide; how to repay kinds of mother and also how to do others before self. To put in practice of above cited matter in our day to day life can be develop non-violence and peace in the society and world at large. If you learn more and deeper, will create an unshakable respect and will introduced previous live and after live. After introduction of previous and after live, will be know all sort of sadness and happiness are the results of bad actions and good actions. All source of happiness is good action or wholesome action you did in the past. All source of sadness is bad action or unwholesome action you did in the past. Even in our day to day life if we do good things, people flourish love and respect to us. If we indulge in bad manner or bad deed, people will reciprocate disrespect and hatred to us. In this very disturbing world of today, we can't make a peaceful world by blood for blood. And also we can't control the terrorist act by guns and bombs. We should have ready to change our horrific moral character by introducing love and compassion by greater perspective. So, our final aims and objective of re-construction of DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY of Nyagton lineage is also for the world peace. Briefly, a person who learned and practiced Buddhist culture meaningfully will be definitely way of thinking will be change from negative thought to positive thought. Happiness doesn't exist only on the materialistic development and it always exists in the mental peace and tranquility. 5-HOW TO PRESERVE AND RESTORE TIBETAN CULTURE AND TRADITIONS : - It is unanimously accepted by all scholars in Tibet that Tibetan has culture and tradition of five major sciences and five minor sciences. a)-Five major sciences are :- 1-Science of craft and Architect 2-Science of healing and medicine 3-Science of Language 4-Science of Reasoning and logic 5-Science of Buddhist culture or philosophy b)-Five minor sciences are :- 1-Science of Astrology 2-Science of performing arts 3-Science of synonym 4-Science of grammar 5- science of rhyme or poem. All sorts of Tibetan culture are included in above mentioned ten sciences. Monastic institution or Gonpa is playing major roll of preserving and restoring Buddhist culture and none other organization can do. Tibetan language and literature is hallmark of culture and tradition. By learning Tibetan language one can read the teaching of Lord Buddha, Tibetan history and also text and commentary written by many great Indian and Tibetan Buddhist scholars. Once one could learn proper or depth of tenet and philosophy of Buddhist is well preserve of Tibetan culture too. Many of us arises question in our mind that is the monks are only preserver of Buddhist or Tibetan culture, because they are learning Buddhist culture subject in the monastery. No, many lay men learning the same, but diverting their attention to many more modern subjects. Monks are better in the subject of Buddhist philosophy, because monks are learning Buddhist culture in depth. We could judge from concept of individual that one who wish to know or wish to learn Buddhist culture are approach to a Lama or Master Monk to get such knowledge not approach to other people. This is clearly shows that monks in the Gonpa or monastery are sole preserver of Buddhist culture or culture of Love and compassion. 6-GONPA CONSTRUCTION BENEFITS TO REFUGEES :- Today we see that those Tibetan refugee settlements are socio-economically well developed are due to existing of big Gonpa or monastery in the Tibetan refugees settlement not only TR settlement many local villages are also benefited. Therefore, the project location of DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY is also situated in the Tibetan refugee settlement of Ravangla; South Sikkim is a remote and undeveloped. We assure that after implementation Gonpa construction project will benefit the Tibetan refugees as well as local villages to upgrade their living standard and mental attitude. And at the same time we have the responsibility to prevail universal responsibility and universal brotherhood. Therefore, we are most well come and also grateful to dedicated donors those who willing to funding for our DENSA LELUNG CHOEDEY re-construction project in Sikkim, India. We are also very much thankful to individual and organization helping this noble project today in the form of finance and physical energy.
